Overview:	Applications are invited for the position of
Postdoctoral Research Assistant within the School of Electronic
Engineering and Computer Science. The appointee will join an
internationally recognised and highly motivated team of researchers and
will contribute to the EU FP7 IAPP project CENTAUR 'Crowded environments
monitoring for activity understanding and recognition'. 


A relevant background in computer vision or multimedia signal processing
is essential, with further expertise working with machine learning
and/or pattern recognition highly desirable. Applicants must also have
excellent technical, programming, communication and team working skills.
The successful candidate should have a PhD or equivalent in Computer
Science, Electronic Engineering or related discipline and have
experience covering the full range of duties required for the post. 


As this project is funded from the Marie Curie Industry-Academia
Partnerships and Pathways (IAPP) scheme rules apply. Applicants should
not be nationals of the state in which the project and research is to
take place - in this case the UK. Applicants also should not have lived,
worked or studied in the UK for more than 12 months out of the 3 years
immediately prior to the time of application. Short stays such as
holidays are not taken into account. To qualify as “Experienced
Researcher” applicants must, at the time of recruitment by the host
organization have at least four years and less than ten years of
full-time equivalent research experience.


The post is full time and for a fixed term period of 12 months with a
starting date from 3 June 2013 (or as soon as possible thereafter). The
appointment will be on a fixed salary of approximately £53948 per annum
which include the single person's mobility allowance and superannuation
(pension scheme) or approximately £56851 per annum which includes the
married person's mobility allowance and superannuation (depending on the
exchange rate with the Euro).


Candidates must be able to demonstrate their eligibility to work in the
UK in accordance with the Immigration, Asylum and Nationality Act 2006.
Where required this may include entry clearance or continued leave to
remain under the Points Based Immigration Scheme.
