CFP - CVIU Special Issue on Pose & Gesture

Scope

Future applications will require new methods to capture human poses and
recognize gestures. Progress in these areas will lead to advances in
diverse areas such as robotics, wearable computing, motion capture, and
touch-free interfaces. In recent years systems have left the lab
environment and are now being deployed in the real-world as evidenced by
the success of recent depth sensors. This trend will continue as
hardware and algorithms continue to advance. The proposed special issue
will focus on methods for capturing human pose and gesture to provide an
overview of the current state of the art in the field.

Topics

For this special issue, authors are invited to submit original research
papers and high-quality overview and survey articles on topics
including, but not limited to:

Methodology

- Detection and tracking of articulated body pose
- Efficient training and inference algorithms
- New representations for pose and gesture applications
- Multi-modal learning and fusion strategies
- Generalization to new users
- Theoretical characterizations

Applications

- Human pose estimation in 2D and 3D
- Hand pose estimation
- Gesture recognition
- Sign language recognition

Paper Submission

Full papers can be submitted via the online submission system for CVIU
(http://ees.elsevier.com/cviu/).

Preparation of the manuscript must follow the Guide for Authors
(http://goo.gl/aXjd45).

To encourage reproducible research, preference will be given to
submissions accompanied by software that generates the results claimed
in the manuscript.
