Call for Participation -- ICME’14 Grand Challenges

We are pleased to announce ICME’14 Grand Challenges, an industry 
sponsored program at the 2014 International Conference on Multimedia and 
Expo (ICME’14). ICME’14 Grand Challenges consist of a number of 
multimedia related Challenges or contests that are put forward by 
industry sponsors. These Challenges are challenging as well as 
entertaining, and provide cash awards. Both individuals and teams are 
welcome to participate in these Challenges.

The following is a sample of ICME’14 Grand Challenges that have been 
announced to date.

MSR-Bing Image Retrieval Challenge (sponsored by Microsoft Research)
- This Challenge is about web image retrieval. The contestants are asked 
to develop systems to assess the effectiveness of query terms in 
describing the images crawled from the web.

Tencent Multimedia Ads pCTR Challenge (sponsored by Tencent)
- This Challenge is about multimedia advertising. The contestants are 
expected to accurately estimate the predicted click-through-rate (pCTR) 
with data from a real-world online advertising system.

Huawei Accurate and Fast Mobile Video Annotation Challenge (sponsored by 
Huawei Technologies)
- This Challenge is about automatic annotation of mobile videos. The 
contestants are expected to develop algorithms and software to 
accurately annotate mobile UGC videos with a set of known labels.

ISvision Challenge – Identity Indexing in Massive Videos and Pictures in 
the Network Era (sponsored by ISVISION)
- This Challenge is about identity indexing. The contestants are 
expected to build up identity indexes for each figure appeared in a 
volume of test videos and pictures.

ICME’14 Grand Challenges have different closing dates. Winners of each 
Challenge will be invited to participate in a final Grand Challenge 
presentation and award ceremony at ICME’14. For more information, please
