Title: Recent advances for billion-scale similarity search

Abstract: After briefly introducing the Facebook AI Research
laboratory in Paris, I will present two recent works for searching
similar vectors for billion-scale dataset vectors. The first approach,
namely polysemous codes, is a way to take the best of two lines of
research usually regarded as being competing methods when search with
compact codes, ie. binary codes and quantization methods. The second
approach is about GPU-based similarity search, and is closely related
to our recent open-source release of the FAISS library.
