広島市立大学の宮崎大輔です．

ブリストル大学のGary Atkinson先生から
研究の上で抱えている問題を解き明かして欲しいという依頼が来ました．
image-MLに流しましょうかとAtkinson先生にお聞きしたところ
ぜひ日本のコンピュータビジョン研究者の皆様のお知恵をお借りしたい
とのことでしたのでimage-MLに流させていただきます．

Atkinson先生は偏光解析の研究で有名ですが，その研究の過程で理論とは食い違
う現象が発見されたので，その現象を解明して欲しい，とのことです．Atkinson
先生が最初，MITラボへインターンに行って偏光解析の研究をおこなった学生に
聞いてみたところ，データ取得の問題ではないかという指摘を受けたとのことで
す．偏光解析の研究をおこなった経験のある者なら分かる通り，理論通りのデー
タを取得するだけでも難しいので，私も最初はそれが原因かと思いました．そう
いう面が原因である可能性も含め，広くみなさんから意見を求めている，とのこ
とです．

賞金も出るようなので，皆様ぜひAtkinson先生からの挑戦に取り組んでみてくだ
さい．
