Presenter Instruction - Spotlight & Interactive Sessions

The poster presenters at the interactive session are given an opportunity to present an overview of the research at a spotlight session on the same day as the assigned interactive session. In addition, as a new attempt, the presenters are also given an opportunity to present their poster standing on a step (“Otachidai”) for 5 min. during the interactive session, which is called “Otachidai session.”

※Papers not selected for oral presentations are moved to the track of general papers (「一般論文(ポスター発表)」) on EasyChair. The description in this page is also applied to those papers.

Spotlight Presentation

Spotlight presentation is aiming at advertising the research within 30 sec. in the time slots right before the oral and invited sessions that are expected to attract a large audience. For the sake of smooth progress, the presenters are requested to submit their PowerPoint slides in advance, which are compiled into a single file for the spotlight presentation on a laptop PC prepared by the organizers. Therefore, please submit PowerPoint slides following the guideline below.

※Demonstrations (numbered with “DS-x”) do not have an opportunity of a spotlight presentation.

Guideline for slides preparation

※ June 26: The environment of the laptop PC used for spotlight presentation has been altered.

Due date & Submission instruction

Submit a PowerPoint file through EasyChair by Friday, July 19.

"Otachidai Session" New!

Have you ever felt loneliness during a poster presentation due to too few audiences? Have you felt as an audience at a poster session that “While I am interested in the poster, I am not sure if I can understand it.” So as to respond to such thoughts, we newly introduce “Otachidai session” in the 2019 edition of MIRU.

In the “Otachidai session,” the presenters are given an opportunity to present their poster standing on a step (“Otachidai”) only for 5 min. during the interactive session. A researcher with the expertise in the field encourages the discussion, as an “Otachidai chair,” by listening the talk, asking questions and helping the presenter if necessary.
